But perhaps only a few people have heard that trees also celebrate their birthdays. However, the Social Welfare Department of Jalna city has celebrated the eighth birthday of trees.
3 thousand saplings were planted in the area with the initiative of Balbhim Shinde
On the initiative of Social Welfare Commissioner Balbhim Shinde, 3 thousand saplings were planted in the Commissionerate area. The concept of birthday came to take care of these trees and enjoy their growth. The birthday of these trees is being celebrated every year for the last 8 years. In 2016, the then Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Department, Jalna proposed the idea of planting various trees in the Commissionerate premises. With the consent of all the employees, 3 thousand saplings were planted in the Commissionerate premises. In this, trees of Amla, Tamarind, Vad, Pimple, Jambhul etc. have been planted. After planting the trees, the idea of celebrating the birthday came up so that proper care of the trees can be taken and the growth of the trees can be enjoyed.
Trees’ birthday is celebrated
The birthday of trees started being celebrated from the very first year. After this, this tradition has been going on for the last 7 years and in the eighth year also the birthday of these 3 thousand trees was celebrated. Interestingly, in 2018, saving the trees was a big challenge in the drought situation. However, Santosh Aade, a staff typist in the commissionerate, collected subscriptions ranging from one thousand rupees to ten thousand rupees from all the employees and built a borewell at a cost of 90 thousand rupees.
The problem of drought was overcome by installing borewell
After the borewell, the water problem of the trees has been resolved and these trees are now looking green. The Social Welfare Commissionerate area benefits from these trees and it is also attracting the attention of passersby. Employee Santosh Aade expressed happiness and said that these trees have grown with the cooperation of everyone. He also said that this tradition of celebrating the birthday of trees will be continued.
